A few months before Peityn + Ryan’s wedding, they called with some news. They’d decided to change their Halloweekend wedding plans to an intimate wedding in Sedona. Would I still be their photographer?
My answer was a resounding YES!
I’m all about planning a wedding that feels like you and this change felt so true to Peityn + Ryan. Despite their Minnesota address, these two are made for the desert. They’d even gotten engaged surrounded by cacti at a rest stop on one of their trips together. It just made sense.
And when the day came, everything fit together beautifully. From the epic Airbnb where Peityn got ready (she did her own hair and makeup because, well …. her alter ego is Bleach Assassin, so of course!) and slipped into a stunning sleek number with a statement bow, to the venue – Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, where every corner and space is picturesque.
With an early sunset at this late October wedding in Sedona, we decided to embrace the dark for the ceremony and beyond — setting aside the flash to just be. It was so rewarding to try shooting in this way, and I’m really happy with the result. Throughout the day, Peityn and Ryan couldn’t keep their hands off each other. I find it so lovely as a photographer when a couple is so attached at the hip on a wedding — and everyone there was just entranced by their love, joy and magnetism. These loving friends and family made the day—and the speeches caused just about everyone to weep.
Another bonus, my fav Courtney Rae Films came along too!
