Tying the knot can be as fun + carefree as you’d like it to be. That’s the feeling I wanted this Duluth, MN elopement styled shoot to reveal. This day was a little slice of heaven, with beautiful cloudy weather and a warm breeze. It’s astonishing that these views are accessible just two hours from the Twin Cities, and that couples can have a beachy wedding along the North Shore of their home state.
The Styled Duluth Elopement
This shoot is the last of my “Four Corners Styled Shoot Series,” which is an effort to rediscover my creative spirit + hone in on my photographic style through experimentation. Each of the four shoots dives into a different element: earth, water, fire and air.
For this beach picnic elopement shoot, I chose the word air and — by extension — the idea of weightlessness, dreams, freedom + movement. I wanted this to feel light + natural and to experiment with motion and unique angles to capture the silly + fun of Grace + Michael’s relationship.
We met up on a little beach access surrounded by private homes on Duluth’s Park Point. The peninsula is gorgeous, a slice of Florida on the North Shore (in the summer at least) with rolling dunes and soft sand.
After exploring along the water, we celebrated with champagne and a little picnic on the dunes and finished by getting our feet wet in the cool Lake Superior water.
G + M were the best match I could’ve asked for. Just a month out from their wedding, the pair jumped at the chance to drive up north and model for my vision. Grace has such a blazing fire within her and watching Michael be in awe of her was heart-melting. You can see it in the images too. The way he looks at her is something else.
With a bright smile and contagious laughter, Grace lit up my camera and sparked my creative spirit. Together, we bounced ideas and flowed naturally into various poses + prompts.
The Team
I also worked with a few local wedding vendors to make this vision a reality.
The stunning vintage dress comes from Sienna Cole Bridal in Forest Lake.
Florology threw together the stunning pastel bouquet. It was so perfect for this day, with beautiful snapdragons and fluffy grasses. It was such an honor to work with her!
I hope these images make you feel joyful + light! And if you’re planning your Duluth, MN elopement — I’d love to help! Fill out the inquiry form on my contact page to learn more about my packages.
